The time we were in sync

So I'm leaving for the day and two of my coworkers are working in the lab right outside my office.  I'm in a bit of a rush, so I flit past and say, "So long, farewell!"

To which one of my coworkers answers, without so much as blinking an eye, "Auf wiedersehen, goodbye!"

And through the glass window between the lab and the hallway, I dramatically say, "I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye."

The other coworker picks up the slack and says, "So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye!"

And all in chorus as I'm walking down the hall, waving at them through the glass, we say, "Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye."


(Two minutes later, I come back, laughing so hard that I have tears in my eyes.  They're laughing their asses off, too, and we have a ridiculous round of Did that really just happen? and trade high fives for being on the same wavelength before I finally actually do leave.)
