Recipes: Mushroom Sub
Jan. 28th, 2014 06:12 pmAlthough I've been vegetarian for a really long time, and I don't miss eating meat, there are certain meals that I miss -- in particular, sloppy joes and meatball subs.
While I'm pretty sure "meatball subs" needs no explanation, sloppy joes might -- it's pretty much a hamburger, except the meat isn't in a patty, and it's cooked with a thick (somewhat runny) sauce, which makes it drip all over when you take a bite, hence the name, "sloppy joes".
Needless to say, when I've got a craving, I've got a craving and I figure out something that might work as a substitute. I have a "veggie"ball sub variation that's so good, hardcore meat eaters forget that it's vegetarian, and I have a sloppy, sloppy joe variation made out of beans that's really easy to make, but I'll give up those recipes another time, because I've made the mushroom sub variation tonight, which is probably the healthiest version of the three.
