Important Stuff! oh, yeah, and about the homework...

A Teen Wolf writing challenge and writing workshop community

I like the idea of a writing workshop so much that I signed up. While I don't know if I'll be posting snippets for review (it'll depend on what I'm working on during any given week), I'll definitely be commenting when time permits. Even if you're not a TW fic writer, but you're interested in the productive crit process, you should at least check it out!
I actually couldn't find my notebook under a massive pile of work, so there was no homework done this week. And although I can't blame the papers that kept accumulating on my desk for not having done any homework at all, I am happy to announce that I got a good chunk of my workload cleared off today.
No, the blame for the lack of homework to turn in belongs squarely to LM #11; I was on the downward slide of holy shit I'm almost done, so the urge to finish it was a bit overwhelming. So, am I finished? Sure, yes, absolutely, if you don't look too deep. I'm three-quarters of the way through it and cringing left and right. There are missing scenes. There's facts to check. There's motivations to create. There's... there's a bit of surgical stitching together that I need to do in order to make sure that the whole thing makes sense.
Several lovely people have offered to do a beta with a quick turn-around. I appreciate your offers, I really do, particularly considering how close we are to the holidays, but there's absolutely no way that I can finish all my fixes, pass it on to someone else to review, and go through the edits again in time for posting on the 26th. Yep. That's my self-imposed posting date. Whether or not I'll meet it remains to be seen, so keep your fingers crossed.
I could give myself more time, sure. I could get a proper beta on it, fix all the oh shit what was I drinking at the time mistakes. I could put off posting until, I don't know, January. But I have other plans. I am going to write my RBB fic throughout January, and I need a bit of a break to reboot the brain in-between posting LM #11 and starting the RBB.
I know I could multitask and have someone beta #11 while I'm writing RBB, but if there's anything that I've learned about my writing process, is that I just don't work well that way; if I know I'm waiting to hear back on a fic, I can't move on to the next thing. My brain literally shuts down. So this is the way it's going to be, because it's what's going to work best for me given my fic writing schedule.
Although... there are some merits to not posting on the 26th. I mean, will anyone even want to read Merlin fics after the finale? Better yet, will anyone even want to read LM #11 considering all the rumours I've heard about the finale? Or, no, the question I should be asking is, should anyone read LM#11 after the Merlin finale? Oh, geez. I don't know. Fuck. Probably not. In which case, never mind! NOTHING TO SEE HERE! Move on.
